I'm running XP-Home SP2 on a Compaq Presario. when the system has been on
for extended periods it won't shut down. Gets to the blue screen that says
"Windows is shutting down" and hangs there. Could this be a RAM problem or
something else? I betting that this is not an uncommon problem and that it
has already been addressed somewhere. If anyone can give me a reference, I'd
appreciate it. Thanks.

Hi,

Hm ... first check Application and System in the Event Viewer, perhaps there
will be an specific error entry with error code.
To get there: Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->Event Viewer
