Windows XP Home Error Message

when i'm running bearshare v. 2.5 i get an "access
violation at 0x0053ba2f (tried to read from 0x00000008),
program terminated" anyone know how to fix it?
 
This is the application (bearshare) crashing; you'll need to contact the
application's author for help.
