Windows XP Home Edition

Is is possible to keep old programs and files in Windows
XP Home Edition when:

An evaluation copy was installed and expired;
Windows '98 was installed to get IBM Thinkpad to boot to
Upgrade to XP Home Edition?

Have IBM Thinkpad that would not boot after evaluation
copy of XP expired. Loaded Windows '98 to get system to
boot, now upgrading with XP Home Edition.

Are old files and programs lost? If so, can they be
restored and how?

Please let us know.

Thanks.

Mary,

If your programs are installed on the Windows 98 installation and your
upgrading that to full retail and they are compatible with Windows XP they
should be saved and work properly once the upgrade to XP is complete.

Upgrade was completed with no visible problems, i.e, no
error messages or anything. However, can not find
programs that we installed prior to upgrade. Are they
there, and if so, how do we find them?

Please let ME know.

Thanks Much!
