The system boots Ok, but then it crashes and reboots itsel at different times.
The OS is french, the PC is only 18 month old. No error messages are
displayed.
If I try to reinstall the OS it crashes before I can move on.
Any clue anybody
many thanks

Sounds like you should run the Milicious Software Removal Tool from the
Window Update site
To stop the restarting, go to start/run, and type :
SHUTDOWN /A
then run the removal tool.

I had a similar problem with my Xp-home. But my problem was that I had to
reebot my computer >2 times a day. Windows did´t manage to empty the temp
file directionary. It was very annoying, because when I wanted to burn ~20 GB
data(music, film, ect) I had to reebot the computer when Nero sad that it was
not enough of vitrual memory(RAM). Try to get rid of this XP. On my Xp-home
the sound on games dissapeared, or came back, games that closes it self.

Turn off the automatic reboots. Use Control Panel - System - Advanced
and click on the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom)
section. In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox
for automatically restart to clear it.

Good luck
