Windows XP Home Edition updates

Whenever I come to microsoft.com to obtain updates (Service Pack 1 in this case), no download occurs. I open the dialogue window to commence download, but nothing happens. I've left the computer on overnight to see if that helps. But still no download. Any suggestions?

try clicking on Network Installation instead of using windows update.
