there are some third party programs that make H&S think it can not
connect to the internet, even tho you have an active connection.

One is GetRight. Do you have that installed? If so go into GR's options
and UNCHECK "IE6 Click Monitoring". H&S should start working.

If not, google around, there are a couple of other progs that also cause
this issue.

Thanks for the suggestion, Frodo. Unfortunately, I do not have Get Right on
my system. I know at one time when I started the Help & Support program it
would show me the latest news on the home page. Now all I get is that I need
to be connected which I am with an always-on, high-speed DSL, MSN connection
through Qwest. Sometimes, I can't even see the search results in the KB
section of results. This is getting very frustrating. This was finally a
Windows H & S that was actually useful. Not so much anymore!
