Every time I click on to my Microsoft Word icon from my
desktop, "Document 1 - Microsoft Word" appears. I cannot
delete this document from the screen using the
conventional delete procedures. As a result, I cannot
open a new document. Please help me. Thanks.

That is the way it is supposed to work. Document 1 *is* a new document. Just
hit the save button and name it whatever you want.

This is normal, that when you open Word, it opens a new blank document
titled "Document 1." What is the issue?
