Windows XP Freezing Temporarily

I seem to be having a problem with my Gateway Laptop freezing up
intermittently. It locks up for about 10 seconds every 15 minutes or so.
This is whether I'm doing email or watching a video file or just doing
anything. I've checked for defective RAM and all is ok and checked my
processes in Task Manager to see the CPU time. but when it freezes nothing
escalates. I'm at a loss of why this is happening. Any help would be
appreciated. Thank you!

Try checking the Event Viewer (Administrative tools) for errors/warnings.
