Hello,

Got a strange problem with Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
operating system. When we rename a file that is in the Shared
Documents folder (usually one to three folders deep in), sometimes the
name takes immediately, and sometimes you have to Refresh using F5 or
go in and out of the folder in order to see the change.

I thought renames are supposed to take effect immediately? Any clues
as to what's going on?

F5 basically refreshes the *view* or display of the file folder, so the fact
that the window shows the old filename doesn't necessarily mean that the
filename has not been updated. It only means that the window display hasn't
been updated. This will probably be related to what else is going on in the
machine at the same time.
