windows XP fax sharing problem

Read below! Has anyone gotten fax send from remote machine
to work?

I have two XP machines that I am trying to get fax sharing
to work between. A modem is installed on Machine A, and
everything about the XP fax service works perfectly on
this machine (with the local modem).

I add the shared fax printer from this machine onto
Machine B by using \\MachineA, navigating to the "fax"
item, right clicking and choosing connect. When I run fax
console on machine B, all functions work normally for the
shared fax except for the ability to _send_ a fax. (faxes
sent and received on Machine A are easily visible in
Machine B console)

When I try to send a fax from Machine B (remote) console,
a simple error message appears that says: "The fax printer
cannot be accessed. Make sure it is setup properly". When
I use the print feature of an application to send a fax,
_nothing_ happens and the send fax wizard never appears.
The only thing that does happen is that the printer icon
flashes briefly in the system tray.

I have checked the permissions and security and there are
no obvious red flags. To be sure, I uninstalled the fax
service from both machines, and reinstalled them. Then
both machines are on the same workgroup, access is through
the administrator account, and the administrator passwords
are synchronized so there are no hiccups to communication
between the two machines.

Microsoft: please help!

Windows XP Fax cannot be shared. All documentation including properties for
the Fax Printer states so very clearly.

I forgot to mention this in the previous message. But here
are the the event log warnings about the fax service
initialization and termination:

event ID 32026:
Fax Service failed to initialize any assigned fax devices
(virtual or TAPI). No faxes can be sent or received until
a fax device is installed.

Event ID 32068:
The outgoing routing rule is not valid because it cannot
find a valid device. The outgoing faxes that use this rule
will not be routed. Verify that the targeted device or
devices (if routed to a group of devices) is connected and
installed correctly, and turned on. If routed to a group,
verify that the group is configured correctly.

I can't figure out how to create a virtual device....

That means you have no local fax modem. Are my replies not appearing?
