My Windows fails to start, then tries to, then after about 15mins fails. It
advises me to restart in safe mode but when i restart my keyboard does not
work so i cant move the cursor to the "safe mode" prompt. Any ideas anyone??

Is it a USB keyboard? If so, try connecting a PS/2 keyboard instead. Some
older PCs can't properly use USB keyboards outside of Windows.

the original keyboard is a logitech optical one, i thought this might be a
problem but i have tried with a standard PS/2 wired keyboard and still no luck

A PS/2 keyboard will work, but you need to ensure that it is plugged in when
you turn it on. The PS/2 ports initialize on boot, and may not function if
there isn't something connected when it's turned on.
