Windows XP fails to boot with services.exe failed to initialize properly error

Hi !

I recently installed new virus definition updates as well as a Microsoft
security fix.

Since then my PC always brings an error message when it boots:

'services.exe' - the application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000006).

After that the PC is essentially useless.

Has anybody seen this before and could give me a hint
on how to fix this ?

Booting in safe mode and 'Last known good configuration' lead
to the same error.

Thanks very much.

Best regards.

Hello!
As long as you run the xp setup and choose the repair
option, it won't damage any of your current files or
applications. And you can just put the hard drive in
another computer if you want, to copy your files over.
