Windows XP DOS Memory

A

Alan

I have recently changed to XP and when trying to run a DOS
application XP does not have anywhere near the same amount
of free conventional memory. Win2000 would have 612KB
free were XP has 579KB.

After examining the free memory with MEM it seems that
DOSX is not loading into upper memory as it should from
the autoexec.nt file using lh

The only difference in hardware is I am now using DDR
memory.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Are you running some program that needs more than 579K of RAM in a DOS
environment?
I would strongly suggest to find a 32 bit program written for Windows
2000/XP. Such programs can take full advantage of the OS and may even be
more stable.
