Windows XP does not recognize file system on my Primary Slave Internal Hard Drive

I had installed a 250GB Western Digital Internal Hard Drive on my
computer which had Windows ME as the Operating Systme. Using Western
Digital's software that came with the drive, I had formatted this new
internal hard drive which had a FAT32 file system. Recently, I
installed Windows XP on my primary hard drive (c:\ drive). But,
Windows XP does not recognize the file system on my slave Internal Hard
Drive. When I right click on My Computer and go to Manage ---> Disk
Management, it shows the File System as "RAW". I thus suspect that XP
does not recognize the pre-existing file system (which is FAT32). I
have a lot of information stored on this drive and do not want to
re-format this drive since I will lose all the information. Can
someone please advise me on how I can get XP to recognize the FAT32
file system on this hard drive so that I can see all the stored files
on this hard drive?

Thanks.

Try to import foreign disk
1. Attach your hard drive to computer
2. Start > Control panel > Add hardware > Found new hardware (only if
disk is not detected!)
3. Admin Tools > Comp management > Disks management > select your
external disk > right mouse button > Import foreign disk.

I tried both of your options, but didn't succeed. My hard disk is
detected. When I go to Admin Tools > Comp Management > Disks
Management & select my Internal disk and after clicking on right mouse
button, I do not get the option for "Import foreign disk". Similarly,
when I try to manually add hardware, it says that this internal drive
is working properly. The only option that I see is to Format the disk,
but I don't want to do this since I have a lot of my files stored on
this drive that I cannot afford to lose.

I look forward to some more advice. Thanks.
