Windows Xp computer needs reinstall because of virus

Does anyone know a way to format and reinstall windows on a notebook computer
with no disk drive?

I have a Toshiba satellite that has a very bad virus on it and still works
but is getting worse by the day. Sometime programs work, sometimes they
don't. It has gotten so slow that it is hard to do anyting with it. It takes
it a half hour to boot up into windows. I can connect to the internet with
it, but when you try to view any web page they usually close without warning
after a minute or two. I want to restore the computer to win Xp pro from win
xp home, but I do not have the original discs from toshiba. I am worried that
I will be missing important drivers or other vital data if I format the drive
with out the original restoration disc. The other problem is that the disk
drive is broken and when I try to install a new drive the computer refuses to
install it because of the virus. Sometimes it will recognize the drive and
other times its acts as if it doesn't exist.
I have another computer that I can copy files to from the toshiba via a 2gb
pen drive, but what should I copy if anything. I don't want to infect my
other computer.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

copy nothing......chances are you will copy the Virus.
Do you not have an antivirus program that you can run????
What "disk drive" is broken...........floppy or CD/DVD???
Noticed your other post and see you have a copy of XP pro.........install it
on the Toshiba using the 30 day trial period and during the install format
the Hard drive....even if you need to go buy a USB external CD/DVD drive. The
Format will destroy the Virus..
Do not go on the net without first installing an Anti virus...a
Firewall.....
Then go to Toshiba website and order your "restoration" disks and download
the drivers specific for your Laptop
Once that is done you have 30 days to purchase a copy of XP Pro that you can
activate...or use the Toshiba restore disks
Then you can also go to the Gateway website and try to find XP drivers for
that converted Vista machine...place them on a CD/DVD and install them on
the Gateway.....if they have any!!

good luck
