windows xp clients slow to see mapped drive contents

I have a windows 2003 server running a mixture of windows XP and windows
2000 clients. When the windows 2000 clients go to a mapped drive ( residing
on the windows 2003) server the contents of that drive appear imediatly. If
the windows XP clients do the same there is a 10 - 20 second delay before
anything is displayed. This does not happen on either client accessing a
mapped drive from our netware server. The shares have no more than 20
folders in them and the only protocol im using is IP. I have already tried
the following:

1. Disabled all group policies on the server

2. Disabled the antivirus software on the server

3. Run net config server / autodisconnect : -1 on the server so that mapped
drives do not autodisconnect

4. Turned off the webclient service on the client machines

5. Deleted the regestry key that scans shared files for Scheduled Tasks on
the client machines

None of this seems to be working. Any ideas ?

This problem is relative a protocol. Active netbios over protocol Tcp/Ip. If not work install protocol IPX too.
I have Windows server 2003 with 15 workstation XPpro. My access is very fast.

I have a windows server 2003 and 15 machines with XPpro. My connections in Windows Explorer is very fast.
Try active NetBios over Tcp/Ip (conection configuration) and install protocol IPX.
