Windows XP CD Writer

I have been using Windows XP for over a year now and the Cd writer has never written a thing top a disk. I use an Artec 48X12X48 CD RW wrtier.
I do not get a single error. It goes through all the motions and ejects the disk when done. There is nothing on the disk and the disk is no longer usable.
I have the new High MAt software installed. I have the new Windows XP Movie Maker2 that is want to use. I also have Nero 6.0 Ultra installed. It works fine.
Please, can you tell me what I can do to understand what is wrong here?

If you have Nero installed it is likely that it is interfering with XP's
built in recording function. On the other hand XP does have issues with some
CD Writers. You might be able to fix this with a patch
