windows xp bootloader

My hard-disk is partitioned into two - both FAT32 types,
one for data, the other for windows xp home.

When re-installing windows xp, it has now installed a
bootloader that allows me to try to boot my data partition.
... which obviously doesnt work.

Is there anyway that I can get rid of this bootloader?

Thanks. Phil S

If you have a corrupted installation, boot the XP CD and go into the
recovery console. Run the FIXMBR command on your system partition.

This should fix your issue.

System Properties> Advanced> Startup and Recovery> Settings.
In the top section you can edit your boot.ini file. May want to make a
backup of the existing boot.ini file before making any changes. Remove the
extra lines for the second instance of XP. Save your changes. If uncertain
which lines to remove, copy/paste the contents of the boot.ini file here.

Alternatively, use MSCONFIG. On the BOOT.INI page, click the button to
Check All Boot Paths.

Caution: When you reinstalled Windows you may have made choices that
resulted in two separate installations of XP -one on C;on on D; or possibly
both on the same partition. That would explain why the boot menu appeared.
Boot.ini will show the paths to both Windows folders if two exist.

If two are found, make sure that you remove the one that you don't want.
While logged on to XP, use Start> Run and type in %windir% and click OK. A
window will open displaying the working Windows folder. The path should
match the path of the Windows installation that will be left in boot.ini
