windows xp and windows 98se network issue

I have purchased a new computer that has xp on it and am
trying to network it with the old computer both are
connected to a 16 port hub and pick up the cable modem ok.
but when i try to run the disk that xp creates for other
computers i get application errors and say that security
issuse on the old computer wont allow it to run.
