Hello,
Has anyone come across this problem where i
activate windows xp home either by phone or internet but
after a reboot, it still insists on bieng activated?

Any help appreciatted,. see the list for what i had done
so far.

Regards

Joe

1) Installed SP2
2) ran SFC /SCANONCE
3) Extracted winlogon.exe and ntdll.dll from sp2 cabs and
replcaed in system32 folder.
4)Torn hair out

Possible Resolution:

Boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing (F8) during a reboot.

Go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 regwizc.dll , and hit enter.
Again go to Start > Run and type: regsvr32 licdll.dll , and hit enter.

Apparently, and I can't say how, the above files became unregistered.

It can happen if the activation failed to remove the running of the
wpabaln.exe 'balloon remeinder' at startup. Best probably is just to
look for it and rename it so it does not get found; also check in a run
of MSConfig.exe - Startup page to uncheck any line referring to it,
though I think it is run by a different method which does not show there
