WIndows XP Access is Denied problem

Hi I have Windows XP pro SP2 running on my IBM Thinkpad. My problem is
whenever I Open windows explorer & click on my computer, C:\ icon in
explorers left pane would expand, but in explorers right pane if double click
on C:\ it would throw an error " Access is denied" . Can you please suggest
how shoild I rectify this.
