windows xp 64 bit

I recently downloaded the trial version of xp pro x64 from the microsoft
website. I am running vista premium on my dell inspiron 1501. I have the
harware to run a 64 bit system. When I installed xp pro it booted up to the
system but it did not have the ethernet or network device drivers included in
the installation. I could not access the internet to get any of the drivers
so I had to re-install vista. Is there a site that I could download the
neccesary drivers and burn them to a cd and then install them after I install
xp?

You need to check the device manufacturer's websites for 64-bit drivers.
There is a newsgroup for 64-bit Windows at
microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general. The folks there are well versed in
this subject.

You should check with Dell, using the service tag from the bottom or back of
the system. That will take you pretty directly to whatever drivers they
have.

Or boot to Vista, identify the components and go to the manufacturer's site
and download the drivers if they have them, and hope that Dell didn't make
any changes.

It's generally a good idea to determine whether drivers exist and obtain
them before beginning an install.
