I've had a constant problem with viruses - even though I have McAfee. (You
'all helped out last week with the W95/CXT virus.) The last time I had
viruses - about 7 months ago - I had to reinstall Windows but it has never
restarted or shut down since then. I have to turn it off at the surge cord.

Any suggestions to fix the problem?

Thanks,
Barb

I solved my own problem! But had no idea! Because of a constant problem with
viruses and the recent problem with the W95/CXT McAfee self-made virus that
infected my computer and caused a mess, I got rid of McAfee and got Grisoft
(which is FREE). Co-incidentally, as soon as I removed McAfee, my computer
started shutting down normally and restarting normally. SURPRISE SURPRISE!!
Isn't this too much of a coincidence to be a coincidence??

Also, must say that after I removed McAfee, I did a Search and still found
some McAfee files hanging around. I delted them.

My computer now shuts down and starts beautifully!

I just wanted to let you know I was having virus problems with my software
and downloaded that McAfee also, my computer got worse. It was shutting down
on it's own and starting up slower. I read your post and decided to delete
McAfee. My computer runs normal again. I also have AVG Antivirus i have had
for a while.
Thank for the tip.
