windows won't shut down...help

When I try to shut my computer off it just sits there and
does nothing. If I go into windows task manager and try
and shut it off there... same thing, nothing happens. The
only way to turn the computer off is to push the main
power button on the tower. I did that after I had tried
everything else I could think of, restarting the
computer didn't help. If anyone has any ideas of what to
do , could you please let me know. Thanx
 
sounds like a conflict in either software or hardware,
had the same problem until I removed the software for my
logitech keyboard that wasn't Xp compatible.
