windows won't run - no start menu..no icons

Anyone had this problem?

i can't get windows to run...can only open task manager
and reboot. tasks won't open.

I tried to reinstall windows, nothing. I tried system
restore - no dates were available. ran virus scan -
nothing.

labtop is one year old.

help!!
 
I had that problem, but gateway tech support was able to help me unlock the disc to reinstall. Lots of steps involved but they walked me through it over the phone. Good luck
