Windows wont open

If I understand you correctly then you had the same problem as the OP:
Windows would never fully load. You then did this:
- You formatted the disk.
- You installed Windows.
- You installed ETrust.
This brought the problem back. You then did this:
- You removed ETrust
- You installed NAV
This solved the problem permanently.

If the above sequence is correct then it would point at an incompatibility
between ETrust and your hardware. I think the EA helpdesk would be
interested to hear about this - I would drop them a note.

i tried what you said and it would not accept the first command. I went to
help, and since I have a HP computer, I got HP help. I nosed around there
for a while and there I went to 'start, PC Help and Repairs and selected HP
Application Recovery' and then chose 'drivers'. The first driver I choose
was" AMD Athlon64 Processor Driver and then rebooted. IT WORKED. However,
being an old fart, I will not trust it and plan on this evening going back
and installing each driver listed, one by one.

Does this mean we are done ? :(

I appreciate you persistence and wisdom. Thanks

I want to cry. I tried to do as described in Article 307545. It asked
for the administrator password. I typed it in. It said i was wrong.
After 3 failures, i had to reboot. I tried again with the same
results. I went to safe mode and made bboth administrators the same
password. I rebooted, same problem. I am wrong.

It sounds like you are confusing administator accounts (that is,
accounts of users who have administrative privileges) and the
Administrator account (that is, the actual name is "Administrator").
Windows XP has a built-in Administrator account. By default, the
password is blank. So if you never changed the password, that means it's
still blank!

How you log into the built-in Administrator account depends on whether
you have XP Home or XP Pro. If you have XP Home, for instance, you may
only do this in Safe Mode. With XP Pro, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del twice.

But gong back to the article you referenced, when you are running the
Recovery Console, just follow the instructions in Step 4:

When you are prompted to do so, type the Administrator password. If the
administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.

If you're not experienced with Windows then it is absolutely essential that
you familiarise yourself with Windows Help. There is a wealth of information
in there, written especially for novice users. Starting Windows Help is
exceedingly easy: You click the Start button, then you click Help. This will
give you a panel with an entry box that you can use to get help on the
Recovery Console.

At some stage you will have to decide if it is worth the trouble persisting
or if you should ditch the existing installation and start afresh. If you do
then you should allow the disk to be formatted during the re-installation
process, but only if you have proven backups of your important files,
including your EMail files.
