windows wont boot

i recently bought a new motherboard and when my computer turns on it used to
say:

invalid boot.ini
booting from C:\

the only problem is that it would not find my old hd (which was D: dont ask
me why)

i ran the recovery console and copied NTLDR and NTDETECT.COM from the cd and
now all it does is ask if i want to start windows in safe mode, safe mode
with networking, safe mode with command prompt, the last good settings, and
just start windows normally.

any ideas what to do? im stuck.

Thanks
Matt

Tell it to start Windows normally. The selection menu will disappear
after the first boot.

It is a little unclear from your post what exactly you did,
with there being at least three potential causes for your
problem:
- Upgrading your motherboard (WinXP won't like this)
- c:\boot.ini missing
- Windows getting moved from drive D: to drive C:
(can't do this).

Here are some links that addres the first issue.

In your case I would probably format the disk and re-install WinXP.

saved on another hd so everthing is alright. a little drastic but whatever.
