Windows will not boot

Darin

When I turn on my computer it goes straight to the screen
saying that an improper shut-down or power outage may have
occured. It gives options of open windows normally, last
good settings, safe mode, safe mode with networking or
safe mode with command prompt. When choosing any of these
options the windows XP home edition screen comes up and
the bars scroll across as normal, then it flashes very
quickly to a blue sceen which is not on long enough to
read the text, then restarts and the process starts over
again. As this software came with my computer, I do not
have an XP disc to install at start up.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated as I
cant seem to find a way to ask microsoft directly.......

Darin:
Just a small tip: to see what is going on during boot,
Escape key will show the commands as they proccess,
removing the splash screens that cover this during boot;
Pause key will pause the process to read what has been
done so far. To restart process, hit [Enter].
