Without a doubt the worst windows version ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Microsoft were finally on track with windows XP pro but they had to go and
screw it up by bringing us vista!!! Nothing works, nothing is compatible
every program supposedly compatible seizes or shuts down! It is constantly
vulnerable to viruses!
There's no end to the complaints I have about this crappy version of
windows! Wake up microsoft because you're just soft now and nothing micro
about it!!!

Another post with no substance or content

Just to provide the alternative view
On the 3 PCs and 3 laptops I run Windows Vista on day in and day out.
Everything works.
I have had NO compatibility issues with hardware or software (and some of
these machines are not new - in fact the media center machine is over 4
years old)
I do not receive any program seizures or shutdowns unexpectedly
And with the appropriate firewall and anti virus and anti malware installed
it is as good or better then XP.
And frankly this experience is echoed by the users of the thousands of
desktops I have deployed with Vista as part of my day job.

So I therefore respectfully completely disagree with your premise and your
post.

I second that for both my desktops and my wife's laptop. They all run Vista
x64 and do so very swiftly. But then the hardware is right and we check the
hardware and software compatibility tables on microsoft.com before buying
anything major. Just like we used to do with XP.

Fanboy!! Count me in too. Apart from having to upgrade CD/DVD burning
software, everything I have works really well, and none of it is anything
close to new other than the OS and MS Office 2007..

There is nothing like being specific. I guess that were you to be so, most
of your post could be shot down..

Schweppes79, people have very short memories when a new operating system
comes out, they forget all about the 'problems' that existed when the
previous OS appeared, in this case XP, and prefer to concentrate on knocking
the latest incarnation as 'crappy' 'useless' 'full of bugs' etc. As I recall
the same general language was used when XP first appeared and no doubt the
same language will raise its ugly head when Windows 7 finally gets released.
The fact is Microsoft can do no right; they are, in the minds of the few,
the 'baddy' and the more these people an knock Microsoft the better they
feel. Even if they gave away Vista for free you'd still get a select few on
these newsgroups complaining.

I don't even use Vista - I'm on some non-MS system which I like - but I am
curious about it, its features, problems and buyer reception.

I have noticed a lot of anti-Vista posts that seem to be written in a
similar style and the authors almost never pop in again to respond or if
they do, they do it only once.

the negative criticism is usually pretty unspecific. it always attracts a
trail of responses so you get these little dangling threadlets with a
negative post dangling a threadlet of usually pro-Vista advocacy.

I don't at all mind reading negative criticism of Vista, not at all, but
these posts just seem like trolls, either copy-cats or someone who likes
skipping pebble across the stream.

I wonder why they always attract a string of replies? why not follow the
rule: if a person has a specific issue, address it, otherwise ignore?

I guess trolling works.

If the trolls are left unchallenged, their FUD becomes the reality in the
minds of some people even though the FUD may be based on old performance
data which is no longer applicable.

I know of one or two people who have bought Vista machines, taken them out
of the box and started to search for ways to get XP on them without even
giving Vista a chance purely on the basis of FUD.

For some arcane reason, they equate the FUD to ideas that Vista doesn't work
like XP at all. When explained that one still only has to click on the MS
Word icon to open it, click on 'Messenger > Yahoo chat > Join a room' to get
into Yahoo chat or click on a music file to get it to play in WMP, they try
it out and actually like it

The ranters would be better off with their own blogs. Newsgroup posts soon
pass out of view anyway.
