When I run advisor on several of my computers, it recommends the Business
edition. Does that mean that any other version will not work or not
supported?

No. It just suggests that you don't have some hardware like a tv tuner card
for Premium or Ultimate. You can install any version you want. My report said
Basic, but I installed Home Premium and it works fine. The upgrade path to
Business means you have Windows XP Pro installed now.

No, the underlying hardware support is the same for all versions. The
recommendation may be the result of an analysis of the existing installed
software.
