Dave, I have a suggestion for you. Take your software back to whomever sold
it to you and get your money back. With this money take some remedial
courses in english. After that and from then on, you wont look like a total
moron. AND you wont feel "robbed" as you will have got your moneys worth!!
As a bonus when you post to Usenet people will actually understand what you
are saying.
Go Dave! We are counting on you!

Ultimate addition is a fine SKU, I'm glad to have the business features,
like Remote Desktop, Previous versions with the Home Premium media stuff.

You checked to make sure your TV tuner and your NIC were supported before
you brought it right?

Windows Vista Ultimate is cheaper then Windows XP Professional, at least at
OEM. I don't know about retail, but then I don't know anybody in the UK who
buys the retail boxes.

Ouch! Please don't yell at us. We can hear you if type normally, in
mixed case.

Ultimate won't make it any faster.

DO I NEED MORE MEMROY.

Two points:

1. You haven't told us how much you have, so it's very hard to answer
the question. How much do you have?

2. If it used to run at acceptable speed, and now runs slower, unless
you are now running more demanding programs, how much memory you have
isn't a factor.

This is an non relevant answer, not helping to solve the problem.

Clean install is not a downloadable program. It means to delete
everything on your computer and reload windows from the disc. If you
think that is too complicated you could try to upgrade your memory.
However, I can't be of anymore help unless you provide more information
and answer my questions such as what version of Vista home do you have
and how much memory do you have?

If I remember correctly when you boot from the Vista DVD does it not give
you the option to partition/format the drive?

Dave,
What you are actually experiencing are problems generally associated with
learning any brand new operating system be it Linux based, Apple based, Unix
based, Windows based, or whatever. Vista has many more security features
than XP, much heavier graphics
reqirements, etc. It generally imposes more on any hardware your computer
has installed or has connected. If you are attempting to operate with the
default settings as installed (or do not have appropriate hardware,
especially video and RAM) you can make some setting adjustments and/or
install the appropriate hardware so that some of the problems are solved.
Microsoft and others made no secret of the additional requirements which
Vista imposed so if you purchased Vista to install on your current (older)
without checking such information, that is more your fault than theirs or
anyone else. In no manner am I asking you to hate or love Vista Ultimate,
that is solely your decision to make.
Vista Ultimate does include some features most fail to mention, such as
included backup software AND included imaging software (you do not have to
separately purchase Acronis True Image or Nortons Ghost or similiar
software. It also includes partitioning software (with the size of hard
drives these days, you are almost forced to partition in order to logically
use them).

Jim,

You have no business telling someone to use proper English when you are
incapable of using it yourself. Your punctuation, capitalization and syntax
are terrible. You need to go back to school.

Have a nice day.

Suggestions,
A. Download and install CCleaner (free from:
http://www.ccleaner.com/download) and run it to clean out a ton of junk
(mostly temporary files). Stay with the default checks because you can foul
your system up unless you are an expert. See if that helps your slowdown
problem.
B. Uninstall any software you do not really use.
C. Limit the number of programs on the Start Menu to one anti-virus, one
anti-spyware which actively blocks such stuff (such as Windows Defender
(free), one firewall plus the essential parts of Vista. By that, I mean
leave off the optional stuff.
