Windows Vista Ulitmate: First Time Boot Crash

Hi,

Today I have upgraded my computer with a new hard drive (replaced the
existing one), PSU, sound card and added an additional DVD drive. Before this
upgrade I was running Windows Vista with no problems, and had no issues
associated with it.

After making these changes today and re-installing Windows Vista (twice)
I've got a serious problem. After the installation has rebooted my computer
and is running the first boot sequence the system gets stuck and crashes.

This happens once I've entered my desired user name and chosen a desktop
theme, Vista will try and test my hardware for performance. It's at this
point the crash happens. The screen just remains stuck and no progress is
made.

Because this stage isn't completed, when I try rebooting my machine it does
not launch Vista and remains on a black screen after the screen with the
loading bar.

I have tried re-installing Windows Vista but the same problem occurred again.

Should I try removing the new sound card and DVD drive (I believe it to be
fitted correcty into my machine - the BIOS picks it all up) to see if this
resolves the problem or is there something else that is more likely to be the
underlying cause of this problem?

It's just really unhelpful Windows falls over and doesn't give me an error
message telling me why it cannot carry on. :(

Thanks for your time,

Adam
