microsoft said that along with sp1 will install directx10.1 , but in the
directx diagnostic tool it says that the directx 10 is installed on my pc
instead of directx 10.1.
can someone tell me why is that? and how can i find directx 10.1?

When you go to www.microsoft.com you will notice a search field. Use it.

You'll need a video card tailored to version 10.1, as older video cards
will not support the new graphics features of DirectX 10.1 in Vista SP1.
