You'll be just fine

You should be able to play pretty much anything, but the visual quality
settings may not be at max. Which is ok for most. But, you will be able
to play anything out there.

Does the cd drive read other disks? What are the games you are trying to
run?

Take it back and get a new drive fitted mate, sounds like that is the
problem here

Can your drive read any other disks, other than games? CD-Music, DVD
Movies, etc.? If not, it may be a hardware issue and just need to take
it back to where you bought it and see if they can either replace the
drive or the whole computer.
