Windows VIsta Network Issues

Hi, please help!

I have a laptop and a desktop both running Windows Vista. My ISP is
Bellsouth DSL and the modem is a Netopia. It is connected to a Linksys
router. The router is working, because I am wirelessly connected to the
internet with the laptop. However, I cannot print or access the other
computer from either one. I made sure the workgroup was the same. I made sure
they're both private networks and that the folder is shared. When I try to
access the computer, it says "Windows cannot communicate with HOME-PC
(10.10.10.100). I also cannot print from the laptop. Any sugestiosn would be
greatly appeciated!

I would check the firewall first. if it setup correct, make sure no 3rd
party software blocks the sharing. Or these search results may help.

Have a read of the above link re Vista File and Printer Sharing.

Permissions/Share info is there as well.

If using Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro I.S., make sure file and printer
sharing is enabled in THEIR firewall.

1st thing to do is make sure that the Workgroup Name of ALL the computers is
the SAME.

In Vista Network and Sharing:

Network Discovery: ON (So it can see the other computers)

Network set to Private (Public is for hotspots, airports, etc)

File Sharing: ON

Public Folder Sharing: ON (Vista’s Public Folder is the same as XP’s Shared
Docs)

Password Protected: OFF (unless you want to set up identical usernames and
passwords on ALL computers in your Network) If you have it ON, you will be
asked for a username and password when you try to access a Vista computer
from another comp.

Look in Vista Help for "Disable ICS". Open the fist one "Disable ICS
(Internet Connection Sharing", and follow the steps. It sounds
counter intuitive, but a neat program called "Network Magic" found
this, and once it disabled ICS I was able to file and printer share
with no problems. There is a free 7 day trial of this program if you
would like to try it. No need to keep it after it sets up your
network.[/QUOTE]
