Stephen doesn't have a problem. From his post he hates MS...loves linux
...yet makes his living from MS.
I personally care not to bite the hand that feeds.
Not entirely true Frank. Stop confusing my with Alias and Tiberius please. =)
I don't hate MS. I don't even Hate Vista.
Matter of fact, I even love some of MS' products. Such as this Japanese
Keyboard I bought from them. Ergonomics are excellent, keys are nice and
quiet, look and feel is just perfect!! They did a really good job on this.
Now if they'd only do half as good as a job on Vista I might actually
consider using it. But hey, I can't even agree with Vista's EULA so if I
can't accept the EULA, how can I use the product?
Now you're right, I am a Software Developer. But that does mean MS feeds
me. I don't really make my living from MS.
You have to remember one thing, I primarily write software for the
industrial and commercial market. I don't write for the mass market.
As such, my target OS statistics are a little different. Current personal
project of mine I am working on, the #1 feature request topping everything
else by miles was: Linux client.
My target customers are by far more likely to use and want to use Linux
than the average consumer is. I still support windows and will also
support Vista, and eventually I will have a Vista system around
(preferably on a virtual machine).
Also some of the work I do is embedded software and that is one world
where Linux rules. The only thing MS has to offer in that world is the
by now rather outdated WinCE. You likely have embedded linux devices in
your very own home: Your router for example.
The embedded world is a world where MS and Windows don't even remotely
exist for me.
So no, MS does not feed me. =)
