Windows Vista killed my sound. Help!

I recently installed Vista and have not have sound since. I went into device
manager and tried to see if any of my sound devises were experiencing issues
but only the following three items were listed and did not show any issues.
(1) Hauppaige Win TV PVR II (2) High Definition Audio Device (3) Virtual
Audio Cable

Can anyone help me get my sound back? Thanks

Go to the soundcard manufacturer's website and check for the latest Vista
compatible drivers for your card.

I would if I could findout what soundcard I even have.

If you can't find out in Device Manager, check the documentation that came
with your computer and/or check the manufacturer's website for information
on your model. They may also have updated drivers, assuming they are
supporting your computer in Vista.

A quick scan of Happauge's site shows -no- Vista support for the 3 or 4 TV
cards I looked at on their home page. Have you tried disabling the Happauge
card in device manager to see if your sound "comes back?" You might also
have to disable the virtual audio cable, too, which I'm assuming is related
to the TV card. The High Definition Audio Device driver is, I think (unless
it existed in XP too), a native Vista audio driver. Also, is that the real
model number of the TV card? I could find no such model # on the Happauge
site, but admit I did not dig any deeper than the home page.

I had this problem too. I discovered that Vista set the High Definition
Audio Device to "digital audio" when I use analog speakers. Unchecking
"digital audio" returned the sound.

Good luck.
