i thought after all these years, maybe microfsoft maybe got one right,so i
went out and bought vista.what a night mare, after i got it installed.i had to
get up graded software from.every company, for what i had installed, even my
cell phone software.the other day,i seen that my cd and dvd recorder would
not work,to fix nero,i think it was a 1000mb down load.i had to go out and
buy a new dvd burner,to get new software, now i can use my old
burners.everything built before vista 2006,looks like you have to have new
software.i tried to register my copy of vista and there web site would not
work.so i got shut down and had to fix vista by phone with microsoft, product
key number thing, this os constantly goes for up dates, that does not fix
anything.is there ever going to be a honest company, that will build an os,for
the people, one that will not be defective like vista, one that will work for
us and not against us,im wondering if,we will see this happen in our
lifetime.here it is 2007 and all we got is vista, defective junk.we got great
computers.but no operating system..im going to hang on to my windows xp
pro.basically bill gates has robbed us on this one.they need to trash it just
like they should do there zune player, its no good either.its not selling.i
dont know what else to say.

Your typing skills and sentence structures are defective.

http://writingforcollege.blogspot.com/2005/04/sentences.html
Good writing is about writing good sentences.
If you can't build a good sentence, you can't write. Paragraphs are built from them; ideas are
presented in them; an entire essay can be captured in just one of them. It's critical to use
and spell words correctly and it's certainly essential to build proper paragraphs; however, the
words must form coherent sentences or all is lost.

Before you upgraded to Windows vista, did you check with the manufacturers
with your essential programs about Windows Vista compatibility?

Why did you attempt an upgrade?
What do you need that Windows vista provides that is not available in your
current operating system?

A lot of older software works as is.
Some software works in compatibility Mode.
Some software works as long as you get the latest updates from the software
manufacturers.
Some software will not work with Windows vista.

You did not post any specifics so it is impossible for anyone to give you
specific suggestions for resolving your issues.

The requirement to update some of your software to Vista compatible versions
is not a defect in the operating system.
As has already been pointed out - you should have checked the software
compatibility status of your application prior to upgrading.
The Nero download to the|Vista compatible version ( free download) is not
1000MB but about 110MB.
What message did you get when you tried at activate Vista - the online
activation is extremely robust - possible errors that you may see are that
you are trying to install Vis on more then one machine ( a breach of
license) or that you are reinstalling and thus the key is already used and
therefore you just activate by phone - usually tool free number and about 5
minutes of your time.
If you are using Windows updates these are not constant and are there and do
fix issues for may users application, the OS and hardware devices. Just as
XP does also.

So all of your so called defects are not that at in the OS but a combination
of you not understanding the nature of new OS products and application and
device driver compatibility.

CRAP! Vista is defective for hundreds if not THOUSANDS of reasons...

application compatibility should NOT have been such a big deal but with
vista it is.

oh...the old MVP GAME again: blame the user...

well dear MVP this trick wont work anymore.. you cannot blame the user.

The blame is only upon Microsoft that had 5 years to make something good,
but produced CRAP in a nice box.

Actually application compatibility IS a big deal with a new OS or any
enhancement to an OS that tights security.
What a short memory you must have with all the app compatibility issues XP
SP2 introduced so much so the WU push was held off for over a year with a
patch to allow people time to test and remediate heir applications for the
enhanced security of XPSP2.
Thus it is the same but greater with Vista - architectural changes and
product feature enhancements have introduce a number of breaks in app
compat - and these changes are way bigger then the XPSP2 changes. So the
vendor update their apps accordingly and the end user ensures they are using
a compatible version of the app.

So it seems while you hurl petty insults you neglect to actually look at the
real issue and understand the root cause.
If your apps are not ready for Vista yet then you must either change apps or
wait until your vendor was done the necessary work.

As has already been pointed out - you should have checked the software
compatibility status of your application prior to upgrading.

But DO NOT use or trust the Vista upgrade advisor. It is nothing but a
marketing tool and does not give accurate results. Check instead with
the developer of your software.
The Nero download to the|Vista compatible version ( free download) is
not 1000MB but about 110MB.
What message did you get when you tried at activate Vista - the online

number and about 5 minutes of your time.

By robust, it really means buggy and complicated DRM. When you call for
activation, quoted from the MS website:

http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/activation_facts.mspx

"Mandatory Product Activation Data

* The Installation ID is unique to each prodduct and comprises two
components:

1. Product ID. Unique to the product key used during installation
2. Hardware hash. Non-unique representation of the PC

* The country in which the product is being installed (for Office
XP and Office XP family products only)"

You are never required to provide any other info in order to get
activated. The agent is required to activate you immediately if you
phone in and provide only that info! If they give you a hard time,
politely remind them of this policy posted on their company's website.
If still they persist, request politely to speak to a supervisor and
escalate the issue until they give YOU the paying customer the treatment
you deserve!
If you are using Windows updates these are not constant and are there
and do fix issues for may users application, the OS and hardware
devices. Just as XP does also.

Just beware the stealth updates which 'fix' windows update until you run
a repair install... who knows what else they 'fix'?!
So all of your so called defects are not that at in the OS but a
combination of you not understanding the nature of new OS products and
application and device driver compatibility.

Hi Wheelman,

Just wanted to add some helpful details that Mike had (I'm sure)
accidentally left out. Good luck!

"you cannot blame the user"
I didn't, I asked questions in an attempt to find out why and help the OP
find solutions, something you demonstrate an inability on your part.

Your quick judgment void of facts is typical for you.
Of course you must know the answer to all my questions to the OP.
Without those answers you could not possibly make the judgment you pass.

Typical of you to attack other posts while contributing NOTHING to assist
the OP.
You would help if you could, but obviously you are incapable.

You were pontificating as usual. Throwing back the over used and
threadbare 'blame the user' routine at some MVP is like waving a red
blanket at a bull. Sure to get either to paw the ground, snort and
then charge. Face it. That's exactly what you did.
Typical of you to attack other posts while contributing NOTHING to assist
the OP.

When was the last time you assisted anyone? All I ever see you doing
is sitting up on your pedestal acting wounded and then more
pontificating.

I though only sports celebrities, the Hollywood crowd and punk rappers
demanded respect and needed to have an entourage follow them around
and demand things. Some MVPs need the same treatment it seems. Maybe
you can get Frank to be your go-for. After all he don't have anything
better to do.

im wondering if,vista was built defective, where nothing works,so you have to
go out and buy new stuff,to make microsoft more billions.all that money and
