I'm not sure what your problem is. I have no trouble opening PowerPoint
presentations -- are these sent to you as attachments? This is probably a
silly question, but do you have PowerPoint (or an equivalent reader)
installed? It doesn't come with Vista (or any flavor of Windows). As for
speed, my computer with Vista is lightning fast, but to get that speed I had
to expand the memory to 2 gigabytes.

Tell me how to expand my memory to 2 gigabytes. What processor do you have?
I have not been impressed with the Vista speed, but it is better than my old
computer. Still, I'd like to improve it. I've got a Pentium D processor.

I have a Sony Vaio SZ440 with a T7200 Core 2 Duo processor. Expanding
the memory was easy -- I just ordered it, opened a panel on the back
of the laptop, placed it in, closed the panel and rebooted. The
computer's BIOS recognized the memory and, when Vista booted, it
recognized it as well.

I have a feeling the Core 2 Duo CPU really helps things. I installed
a processor monitor gadget and it indicates that Vista is pretty good
at splitting the load between the two cores. Clearly, this makes a
difference when running two programs at once that are both processor
intensive.

That Pentium D processor is a bit old for Vista.
I have a HP laptop with a Core 2 Duo T5200 processor
with 1 GB RAM, and it really flies.

3 weeks ago I bought a Macbook Pro the same day my wife bought a new
Toshiba with Vista (Home Premium) on it.

We have both always used Microsoft (mainly due to work). Today she
ordered a Macbook Pro!

3 weeks of Vista and we did nothing but struggle to get it to work
with existing software. she even bought a Microsoft VISTA READY usb
mouse at the same time. Plugged it in - didn't work - CD drivers not
compatable!!!

Says it all. microsoft will never see a penny of our money again

I have a new HP amd duo 3800 1gb ram and I have not had a good time with
vista, some of the features would be great it others would work and the
speed would be there. I still can't get windows mail replay or new message
windows to load up faster than a minute or 60 long seconds. HP techs tell me
I have maybe corupted window mail file and I have to do a complete system
restore, but I have had this machine for 2 weeks and after many hours of
setting up I don't want that. Can I live chat with Microsoft techs and get
anywhere?

What if you uninstall Norton or McAfee?

Frank, I have nortons as that's the only anti virus that works with vista as
of now. I turned off out going mail scan but left on incoming. I don't want
to go unprotected. I fixed power point not working finally , now if I could
fix outlook express opening so slow. I thought I fixed it , as it only took
30 seconds but it reverted back to over a minute. If I get time to go on
online chat with micro soft tech I will try to get this fixed this week. I
use my xp machine for my email now.

What makes you think Norton's is the only antivirus that works
with Vista? There are plenty others that work, including the free
version of AVG.

NOD32, Avast, AVG.
Norton (and McAfee) mess up any version of Windows released in this century,
including WinXP.
