I have 3 machines running WinXP Pro. Doing updates for
all 3 over a modem is very time comsuming. Is ther a way
of updating one machine then transfer the update to the
other machines and running it? All 3 are on a local
network.

Automatic Updates Downloads Cannot Be Installed on Other Computers

SYMPTOMS
When the Automatic Updates feature downloads an update, the downloaded
files cannot be installed on another computer.

RESOLUTION
You can download all the updates that are available from Automatic Updates
by using the Windows Update Catalog. For additional information about how
to download updates from the Windows Update Catalog, click the following
article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Visit the Windows Update Web site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

1. Click Personalize Windows Update.
2. Select the Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also
check box.
3. Click Save Settings.
4. A Windows Update Catalog link appears under See Also. Click the Windows
Update Catalog link.
5. Click Find updates for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
6. Click the appropriate product, and then click Search.
7 .Click Critical Updates and Service Packs.
8. Locate the patch you want, and then click Add.
9. Click Go to download basket.
10. In the Type or browse to the download location of your choice box, type
the full path for the folder in which you want to save the patch. Or, click
Browse to browse to the folder.
11. Click Download Now.

Updates that you download from this site are self-installing program (.exe)
files that you can install on other computers.
