Windows updates won't stop

J

Jeff

I just reformatted my HD, afterwards I went to the MS
site and downloaded the critical updates and some of the
suggested updates. The problem is this....now the little
earth globe keeps popping up saying "there are new
updates to download and install" when in fact I have
already done so. When I go to the MS site and manually do
a update check there are none to be had, I have them.
What I want is the update globe ( I realize it's not the
right term) to stop popping up, can someone please tell
me how to fix this problem.

Thank you to all who take the time to reply

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Start/run msconfig, go to the services tab and disable (uncheck) the
Automatic Updates entry. Click apply/ok and reboot.
