I have my computer setup to run Windows at a time my
cumputer is never on, but Windows downloaded the SP2
anyway. I did not want it installed until I was ready for
it.

Did Microsoft has a date certin to start the download of
the SP2 update?

A friend is on dial-up and ordered the SP2 CD from
Mirosoft, and does not want it to start downloading the
software before he can use the CD.

Thanks,
Malcolm

Malcolm;
Even if Automatic Updates is on, you still need to accept the EULA
before installation of SP-2.
Are you sure SP-2 is installed?
Double check your settings in Automatic Update.

Yes I accepted the EULA and installed the SP2 update. The
question is why did it download when I had my cumputer
off at the time the Windows Update was scheduled to run?

Did Microsoft have a date certain to start the Windows
Update and download the SP2?

Thanks, Malcolm

Malcolm;
I am not sure.
Normally the computer needs to be on.
Perhaps SP-2 is different since it can take a few days to download,
but I do not think that is the case.
Was the computer ever on at that time even for a few seconds?
That is all it takes to start it.

No it was never on at 3 AM...

Something triggered the download...
