I am hoping you can help solve an issue I’m having. I am building a MAME
arcade system. In case you’re not familiar with MAME it’s a homemade arcade
game using a PC and monitor propped up against a glass inside a cabinet.
Anyway what I am trying to accomplish is removing the Windows XP startup and
bootup screen so it gives the appearance of an actual arcade system. I got a
2nd hand PC and a copy of Windows. Also have several pieces of software to
help me accomplish this task. Unfortunately none of the software will work (I
am assuming) because I don’t have the latest version of windows (SP3, etc.).
I’ve tested the software on my day-to-day PC and the software works fine.
When I plug the PC into an Ethernet connection I get a steady green and
yellow light at the port, but no other recognition that it is connected to
the internet. (My day to day PC blinks)
Questions:
1. Is there a way to update Windows without an internet connection?
2. Is there some way to remedy my non-Ethernet connectivity?
3. If no to the above is there an alternative to disabling the startup &
bootup screen.
Hopefully you or someone you know can help me.
