Windows Update

Windows update says it's checking for the latest updates for my computer, but
it keeps checking and checking and checking...and I keep getting runtime
errors. What's going on? I tried disabling my antivirus. Need help please!

Sometimes it happens,usually during a very busy internet usage time,simply
try later...Also,try downloading microsoft update,it replaces windows
update &
you'll probably get better response time...

hey thanks, now I don't think I'm going crazy, although after a day of
reformatting and reinstalling, I am crazy!. Thanks, I'll try to be
patient...some more: )

There's one screwed up upgrade that did that to me..

On the uprages page I checked "Don't show me that upgrade again"

It was in hiden upgrades and now it is gone.. seems like it ended in
998..

Also you can disable automatic upgrades..

Install all your upgrades..There may be a fix in one of them..

correction, am already using "microsoft" update. by the way, it's done
checking, looks like another hour wait for updates to be downloaded and
installed. Boy, after all my life on a PC, I wonder if Mac is worth all the

This is patch Tuesday when the monthly round of updates are released so a
bunch of folks are using Windows Update.

yup, just read a blog about patch teusday, thanks man, this is frustrating, I
need sp2 to install my editing software so I can get back to work, it's a
different problem on every corner...

Lol..it's all fun. Maybe you can find someone who has the SP2 CD from MS.
They were given away by the thousands when SP2 came out, in computer
magazines for example, and you could order it for free including free
shipping from MS. I still have a couple lying around. It can still be
ordered for the cost of shipping though that won't help you in your time
crunch. Good luck.
