Windows update

I was updating Windows XP and it got to an update
Microsoft.NET Framework (English) and it said that I do
not have a file netfx.smi and it wont let me install sdk
package or anything else it is locked in a loop and just
keeps trying to install Microsoft.NET Framework (English)
I have shut down at least 50 times it is still stuck in
this loop any help would be appreciated
