Windows update

I keep receiving a notification to install "Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1
Service Pack 1" update. When I click on Install, after a little while I get
the message "The following updates were not installed." I tried turning off
the Norton firewall, but it still won't install. Can anyone tell me what to
do. I've never had a problem installing updates in the past. I usually use
the Express install option.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100 (ignore the subject)

The update you're attempting to install was released months ago. Why didn't
you install it when it was first released? (FWIW, there are scores of posts
in the WU newsgroup from others finding themselves in the same boat today.)

I have my system set to notify me of updates, but not to install since there
are many that don't interest me. I don't remember ever being notified of
this particular update. I went to the site you suggest and, after checking
my add/remove programs, I don't have any .NET Framework files listed. Is
there any other way to install this update? Thanks for your help.

That Net 1.1 update has failed on my computer forever. The MS fix is to
unistall and re-install my Net stuff. Hardly worth the trouble.
