windows update

the windows update (website) has become pretty neat and its nice and easy to
install updates except it doesn't seem to consider people with 2 computers
and a dial-up connection. how can i have it download the updates so i can
reuse those 40+hrs of downloading?

i've noticed that somethings like windows media player can be downloaded
separately, but what about the critical updates? thanks.

I have a question, I'm trying to download the updates for both winxp and
win2k and I initially downloaded to two different folders D:\WU\Win2k and
D:\WU\WinXP. I noticed that their own directory structure already has
x86win2k\ or x86WinXP\ and I was wondering if it is better to merge the
folders together?

I noticed an xml file D:\WU\Win2k & D:\WinXP and it contains the path that I
downloaded to. Is this xml file used for anything? I was planning on putting
the updates on cd so can install the updates at home, would that path make a
difference?

Where are the update files downloaded to and can one safely delete them once
they are installed?
