I have a client machine that isn't able to access the Windows Update site
correctly. Everytime it goes to update the page says it is done loading and
then nothing. No error message, no event log warning just nothing. I've
tried restarting the windows update service and that didn't seem to have any
effect. The only odd thing that I can recall is that the system throws an
error about insufficient permissions when I go to access the Internet
Options, even though the account is an administrator.

I don't see any strange accounts and the machine's AV is working alright so
I don't think the machine has been compromised.

Is there a way to reinstall just the Windows Update service or am I way off
the mark on the actual cause of the problem here?

Start>Run and type in this whitout the quotes and hittind <Enter> at the end of each line:

REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuaueng.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuapi.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\atl.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wucltui.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\system32\wups.dll

Also, in IE>Tools>Security and add Windows Update to the trusted sites.

Worked like a charm, thanks. Where did that information come from so that
next time I need something like this I can collect without having to annoy
the list?
