Windows update wont install

Hi,
for at least a month windows update will download but not
install. It starts and nothing happens. Same scenario
happens for some Installshield based installation
programs. After selecting components to install and where
to, the installation process starts but stays at 0%. I
tried to reapply service pack 1 with same result.

Anyone with a solution?

Does anyone know if I can reinstall Windows and keep my
programs and games (with registry settings)?

Are you logged on as the Administrator or Default User?

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaanx! Renaming edb.log solved the problem.
Windows update and Installshield works again. Thanx.
