My wife downloaded and installed sp-2 before the computer
was ready for it. Someone from HP helped her get it off
the computer, they ended up doing a system restore. Now my
problems and somehow I think they are all related ????
When I try to use windows update nothing happens it gets
as far as checking my computer then just stops responding.
also can't get Norton Antivirus to update, and am getting
alot of "Page cannot be displayed" when trying to visit
different Web sites. I am about ready to wipe the hard
drive clean and start all over. Any Sugestions Lynn

What do you mean "before the computer was ready for it"? Was the
computer infested with spyware and/or viruses? There were patches from
HP that needed to be installed *before* SP2. It does sound to me like
the installation was damaged between the state of the computer before
SP2, after installing SP2 on a questionable machine, and after whatever
the HP tech had your wife do. Without seeing the machine, I can't say
for certain. You could do a factory-restore (press F10 as the computer
is starting up to get HP's Restore program and choose "Advanced" to
reimage the drive) or you could take the machine to a good local repair
shop and have them do it for you and install SP2. When you restore to
factory condition, please understand that any data you have on the
drive will be gone, so back it up first.
